About Pay & Shopping
They handle the details that trip people up. Salary conversions can allow for holidays and vacation days, overtime multipliers can be set per rule, stacked discounts are applied one after another rather than added, and tax calculators work forwards and backwards so you can pull the tax out of a receipt total.
Rates and rules vary by place. Sales tax rates differ by state and city, VAT rates by country and product type, and overtime law by country and state, so each calculator lets you enter your own rate or rule and says which default it uses. None of them replace a payslip or a tax return.

Frequently asked questions
Why is 20% off and then 10% off not 30% off?
The second discount applies to the already reduced price. 20% then 10% takes off 28% in total, which the Discount Calculator shows step by step.
How many paid hours does a full-time job have per year?
A 40-hour week over 52 weeks is 2,080 hours. Subtract unpaid holidays and vacation to get the hours actually paid, which the Salary Calculator lets you do.
How do I remove VAT from a price?
Divide the gross price by 1 plus the VAT rate. At 20%, divide by 1.2; simply taking 20% off the gross price gives the wrong answer.
Should I tip on the price before or after tax?
Etiquette guides in the US usually suggest tipping on the pre-tax amount. The Tip Calculator lets you choose either.
