Work and Productivity Tools
This category holds the structured documents and small utilities that keep a team's work moving: frameworks for analysing a situation or a risk, tools for running standups and retrospectives, a weighted decision matrix, and templates for one-on-ones, performance reviews, mentoring and improvement plans. Engineering and product managers, team leads, analysts and individual contributors preparing for their own reviews all use them.

Which tool do I need?
Find out why an incident keeps coming back
Walk the chain of causes with the 5 Whys, then use FMEA to score other ways the same process could fail.
Run a daily standup that finishes on time
The standup timer shuffles speakers, gives each a countdown and parks side discussions for later.
Choose between job offers, vendors or designs
Weight the criteria first, score each option, and let the decision matrix total them so the trade-offs are visible.
Prepare for a weekly 1:1 with my manager
Pick the employee side and a weekly check-in agenda, then note discussion points and action items per topic.
Review strategy before a planning offsite
Scan external factors with PEST, summarise position with SWOT and sketch best, likely and worst cases with scenario planning.
Write a fair performance improvement plan
Use the PIP tool for goals, outcomes and check-ins, and the review templates to keep ratings consistent with the plan.

About Work & Productivity
Three subcategories split the work. Business Analysis has eight frameworks, from SWOT and PEST for strategy to the 5 Whys, risk matrix and FMEA for problems and risk. Team Tools covers the routine: a standup timer, a retro board, a project dashboard, notes, Markdown, reminders and a way to rank ideas. Career Planning holds the people conversations. They chain naturally: a retrospective surfaces a recurring problem, the 5 Whys traces its cause, the risk matrix ranks what else could go wrong, and the action items land in the next round of 1:1s.
None of these tools needs an account and nothing is sent to a server. That privacy has a cost: there is no real-time collaboration, and data lives only in the browser you used. Most tools save to localStorage and offer an export as JSON, text or Markdown, but the standup timer, retro board, note taker and Markdown viewer save nothing at all, so download before you close the tab. Career and PIP documents are sensitive; avoid drafting them on a shared computer.

Frequently asked questions
Do the work and productivity tools support live collaboration?
No. Each tool runs in one browser with no shared server, so one person types while the group talks, or people export and send files. Some tools, such as the project dashboard, can encode their data in a share link.
Do I need an account to save my work in these tools?
No. Most tools save automatically to your browser's localStorage, which survives a reload but not a cleared browser or another device. A few save nothing, so use their download buttons.
Which analysis framework should I start with?
Start from the question. Use SWOT or PEST for where you stand, the 5 Whys for why something happened, a risk matrix or FMEA for what could go wrong, and gap analysis for how to reach a target.
Can I move my analyses and meeting notes into other tools?
Yes, through exports. The analysis boards export JSON or text, the career templates download as Markdown and the note taker saves plain text, all of which paste into a wiki, document or ticket.
Are the HR templates in this category legal advice?
No. The review, 1:1 and PIP templates give structure for the conversation and the record. Follow your company's HR policy and local employment law for how reviews and improvement plans are issued and stored.
